Apple has officially rolled out iOS 26.1 for iPhone and iPadOS 26.1 for iPad, and both updates are now available to download. If you’ve been waiting for some much-needed stability improvements, this one’s for you.
What’s in the Update
iOS 26.1 packs a handful of new changes and improvements over iOS 26.0.1. Most notably, you get the Liquid Glass toggle to move away from the clear glass look to a more softened tinter look.

Beyond the headline features, iOS 26.1 includes several smaller improvements:
- Apple Intelligence expands to new languages, including Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
- AirPods Live Translation now supports Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and Korean.
- Apple TV+ is rebranding to Apple TV, complete with a colorful new app icon and refreshed identity.

- A new Local Capture section appears in Settings under General, letting users control where recordings are saved and whether they include audio.
- The Clock app gets an updated alarm interface with a Slide to Unlock style dismissal.
- In Music, you can now swipe between songs directly from the playback screen.
You can also expect iOS 26.1 to fix bugs and smooth out performance over iOS 26.0.1. These minor updates are the ones that quietly make your device feel faster and more reliable — even if you don’t notice it right away.
How to Download iOS 26.1
You can grab the update directly on your iPhone or iPad by going to Settings > General > Software Update and following the prompts. Make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi and have a good battery level before starting.
Prefer the manual route? You can also download the IPSW firmware file for your specific device and update through iTunes (on Windows) or Finder (on Mac).

- Choose the right file: IPSW files are device-specific—double-check your model before downloading.
