If you’ve been unhappy with iOS 26 and were hoping to roll back to an earlier version, the window has officially closed.

Apple has stopped signing iOS 18.6.2, just one week after releasing iOS 26 to the public.

In practice, this means you can no longer downgrade from iOS 26 to iOS 18.6.2 using IPSW files. Apple ends signing for older versions shortly after a new release to ensure users stay on the latest software, which includes important security fixes and bug patches.

Can You Downgrade to iOS 18.7?

Short answer: no.

Interestingly, iOS 18.7 is still being signed as of now, but there are no IPSW files available for devices eligible to update to iOS 26. In short, if your iPhone is already on iOS 26, you’re locked in unless Apple issues another version in the 26 cycle.

This is standard practice for Apple, but it does highlight a frustration for some users, especially those who encounter early glitches or performance issues with a major iOS release.

If you’re holding out, your only real option now is to wait for iOS 26.1, which is already in beta testing and will likely arrive with fixes and refinements soon.
