Samsung’s Galaxy S26 is shaping up to be another solid upgrade year, but one feature a lot of people were hoping for might still be missing: built-in Qi2 magnets.
According to a new leak by Nieuwemobiel, Samsung may once again avoid adding native magnetic support inside the phone itself, meaning the Galaxy S26 could still rely on magnetic cases rather than having the feature baked in.
No Qi2 magnets in the phone, just in the case
The biggest hint comes from leaked first-party Samsung cases. Reportedly, Samsung will offer both magnetic and non-magnetic versions of its official Galaxy S26 cases.
That’s a pretty telling detail. If the phones had magnets built in, essentially every case would need to support them, otherwise the whole point of Qi2 style snap-on accessories gets weakened the moment you put a case on.
Instead, this looks like the same approach Samsung has taken before: magnets live in the accessory, not the device.
A strange move in 2026
Qi2 magnets have become one of the most convenient parts of modern wireless charging. Apple’s had it for years, and Android is finally starting to catch up with the likes of Google Pixel 10.

The weird part is that Samsung is still expected to release Qi2-style accessories like magnetic chargers and battery packs, even if the Galaxy S26 itself won’t fully support them out of the box.
So you might end up in the awkward situation where you buy the official charger… then realize you need the “right” case for it to work properly.
If this leak holds up, the Galaxy S26 won’t deliver true native Qi2 magnet support, and Samsung fans may be waiting yet another year for the full snap-on charging experience to arrive without workarounds.
