Apple has just rolled out macOS Tahoe 26.2 developer beta 3, a few days after beta 2 hit.

While this release isn’t packed with flashy new features, it continues Apple’s steady improvements to macOS and provides developers with the latest testing tools.

What’s New in Beta 3

Last week’s macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 2 introduced the “Edge Light” effect, which adds a subtle virtual light around your Mac’s display during video calls. Beta 3, however, appears lighter in terms of user-facing changes.

As of now, developers are digging into the code, but there are no major new features or visible updates reported. This is often typical for third beta releases, as Apple focuses on stability and bug fixes in preparation for the final release later this year.

Under the Hood

macOS Tahoe 26.2 continues Apple’s work toward implementing system-level MCP support. It also expands support for third-party AI providers on Image Playground beyond ChatGPT, giving developers more tools for experimenting with AI-powered features on macOS.

Build Number

The beta 3 build currently rolling out is 25C5048a.

How to Install macOS Tahoe 26.2 Beta 3

If you’re a registered developer, you can install the new beta by following these steps:

  1. Backup your Mac.
  2. Open System Settings.
  3. Go to General > Software Update.
  4. Click the ‘i’ icon next to Beta Updates.
  5. From the dropdown menu in the top-right, select macOS Developer Tahoe Beta.
  6. Hit Done.

Remember, beta software can be buggy, so it’s always best to install it on a secondary device or ensure your data is fully backed up.

What’s Next

Apple is expected to continue refining macOS Tahoe 26.2 in the upcoming betas. If you spot any new changes or hidden features in beta 3, drop a comment and share your discoveries.
