Apple has released the second developer betas of iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 (build 23B5059e), just two weeks after beta 1 rolled out.

The new versions continue Apple’s focus on polishing the big updates introduced with iOS 26, while also expanding Apple Intelligence language support.

If you’re running the first beta, you can update right now from the Settings app.

What’s New in iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 Beta 2?

While iOS 26.1 beta 2 doesn’t introduce major new features, it brings several small refinements across the system and improves performance for daily use.

Apple Intelligence now supports even more languages, including Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), and Vietnamese. This expansion makes Apple’s AI features accessible to a wider global audience.

Apple has also made subtle improvements to the Liquid Glass design, especially in apps like Phone, Safari, and Photos, where the new glossy, transparent look feels smoother and more consistent. The Apple Music swipe gesture for switching tracks is also more responsive in this build.

Together, these updates show Apple fine-tuning both performance and design ahead of the public release later this month.

How to Download iOS 26.1 or iPadOS 26.1 Beta 2

If you’re a registered developer, you can download iOS 26.1 beta 2 and iPadOS 26.1 beta 2 directly on your device:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to General > Software Update
  3. Make sure Beta Updates are turned on
  4. Tap Download and Install

You can also grab the IPSW files from developer.apple.com and install them manually using Finder on Mac or iTunes on Windows.

What’s Next for iOS 26.1?

Apple is expected to release iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 to the public later in October 2025, likely alongside updates for macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.

These minor betas may not pack huge surprises, but they’re setting the stage for a smoother, more stable experience across Apple’s ecosystem — especially as Apple Intelligence continues to expand globally.

If you’re testing the beta, keep an eye out for subtle UI tweaks and stability improvements over the next few days.
