Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, could be on the verge of its most dramatic transformation yet. According to a new Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman, Apple is testing a completely reimagined Siri that trades its minimal interface for an animated, lifelike personality, possibly inspired by the Mac’s iconic Finder icon.

A “Bubbles” Project to Bring Siri to Life

Internally, Apple is calling this initiative Bubbles, aiming to give Siri a visual personality reminiscent of Microsoft Office’s nostalgic Clippy, but sleeker and more Apple-like. Prototypes reportedly include an animated Finder-style face as well as Memoji-inspired designs.

The goal is to make Siri feel more like a true companion than a static tool. This aligns with Apple’s broader AI strategy, where Siri’s intelligence and personality will be central to next-generation devices.

The Hardware That Could Debut the New Siri

Gurman’s report points to two upcoming products:

  • HomePad / HomePod touch (Rumored for 2026) – A hybrid smart display and speaker that could showcase the new Siri design.
  • Tabletop Robot (Expected 2027) – An advanced home device resembling an iPad on a movable limb that follows users around the room.

Both devices will reportedly leverage Siri’s upgraded interface, with the tabletop robot offering more advanced conversational abilities.

A Virtual Companion That Can Hold a Conversation

Apple envisions this Siri not just answering questions, but actively engaging with users. Picture it:

  • Suggesting restaurants during a dinner plan discussion
  • Offering recipes mid-conversation
  • Collaborating on trip planning or complex tasks
  • Following you visually as you move around your home

Suggested: Siri Overhaul and App Intents Coming with iOS 26.4 in Spring 2026

The 2027 robot will likely deliver the full range of these features, but Apple could preview the new design as early as next year on the HomePad/HomePod Touch.

Why This Matters for Apple’s AI Future

If Apple moves forward with this visual Siri, it marks a shift from voice-only interactions toward immersive, personality-driven AI experiences. It also shows Apple’s intent to compete with the conversational capabilities of assistants like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

For users, this could mean Siri finally feels like the proactive, intelligent helper Apple promised more than a decade ago, only now, it might greet you with a friendly smile.
