iPadOS 17.7.8 Update Also Fixes Bugs in iOS 17.7.7

In a rare but welcome move, Apple has just dropped iPadOS 17.7.8, and it’s aimed squarely at older iPad models that won’t be lucky enough to see iOS 18.

If you’re rocking a 2017 iPad Pro (the 10.5-inch or 12.9-inch ones) or a 2018 iPad (6th-gen), this one’s for you.

Now, this isn’t your typical new-feature-packed update. No shiny widgets or AI keyboard magic here. This one’s all about plugging the security holes and making sure your trusty old iPad doesn’t get blindsided by nasty bugs.

This release follows iPadOS 17.7.7, which, well… didn’t go so smoothly. That version was yanked after users reported their App Store apps repeatedly logging them out. Super annoying. So yeah, Apple’s pressing the reset button with 17.7.8 to get everything back on track.

Pro tip: Go to Settings > General > Software Update and get 17.7.8 on your device ASAP.

If you’re still hanging onto your older iPad, this update is a must-install. It fixes a bunch of behind-the-scenes security vulnerabilities that Apple has not detailed for now, obviously.
