After years of waiting, WhatsApp has finally launched its official iPad app… sort of.
WhatsApp for iPad is Available But You’ll Have to Wait in Line
The app is currently in beta via Apple’s TestFlight, and in true TestFlight fashion, the slots filled up instantly. So unless you were lightning-fast (or psychic), chances are you missed it.
That’s right: the long-awaited WhatsApp iPad beta is technically “available,” but only if you were among the lucky few who grabbed a spot before the virtual doors slammed shut. As of now, TestFlight is at full capacity, and there’s no official word on when more slots might open up. Brutal.
For those who did manage to squeeze in, the beta offers a full-fledged iPad experience including messages, media, and all the basics you’d expect, finally on a big screen. It connects via the multi-device feature, so no, your iPhone doesn’t need to be glued to your iPad to make it work. Hallelujah.
But fair warning: it’s still a beta. Expect a few bugs, quirks, and the occasional app crash. It also expires in 90 days unless updated regularly, as per Apple’s beta rules. So if you’re in, keep an eye out for new versions to avoid getting booted.
For the rest of us, this is a waiting game. Whether WhatsApp opens up more beta slots or fast-tracks a public release, we’re keeping our fingers crossed. After all, it’s 2025, WhatsApp on iPad shouldn’t feel like a VIP-only event.
Until then, the dream of WhatsApp on your iPad lives on… just behind a very full TestFlight link.
