Spotify is finally rolling out one of its most requested features to premium subscribers in the United States and Canada. Users in both countries will be able to watch official music videos directly in the Spotify app before the end of the month.
The feature is still in beta, but it is now available in two of Spotify’s biggest markets for the first time.
A Limited Catalogue for Now
Spotify first launched music videos in early 2024 as a small beta across 11 regions. It then expanded the test to nearly 100 countries, but the U.S. and Canada were left out for most of the year. That changes now. Spotify says all premium subscribers in both countries will gain access soon, although the initial video library will be limited.
The company says the catalogue will expand quickly over the coming months. For now, you can find videos from artists like Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano, and Carin León.
Spotify describes the expansion like this:
This expansion gives millions more listeners access to a catalog of official music videos, from studio versions to live performances and covers.
How to Watch Music Videos on Spotify
Watching videos is simple. When a track supports video playback, you will see a “Switch to video” button beneath the album art. Tap it, and the song will shift into full video mode. The feature works on TVs, desktops, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, and you can view everything in full screen.
If you want to explore beyond the main track, scroll down to the Related Music Videos section. You can also visit an artist’s profile and check the Music tab, or browse curated playlists like 90s Video Hits, Hip-Hop Throwbacks, and Latin Party Hits.
Available in More Countries
Alongside the U.S. and Canada, Spotify confirmed to 9to5Mac that the rollout is also beginning today in Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Uganda, and Venezuela. All regions require a premium subscription.

A Big Step Toward Keeping Users Inside Spotify
Music videos have always been one of the last big gaps in Spotify’s media strategy. Most users still jump to YouTube when they want to watch a video, which means leaving Spotify and its recommendation engine behind.
This beta rollout looks like Spotify’s next attempt to compete more directly with YouTube’s music experience. The catalogue is small for now, but if it grows at the pace Spotify suggests, premium users may finally have a reason to stay inside the app for video content too.
