Update: The issue has been fixed, and all services are up and running normally now.

Microsoft Outlook is facing a major outage affecting Outlook.com, mobile apps, and desktop clients. Here’s what we know, what’s impacted, and when service might be restored.

Microsoft Outlook Is Down, And It’s Not Just You

If you’re frantically refreshing your inbox thinking it’s just your Wi-Fi acting up, relax (sort of). Microsoft Outlook is down, and it’s been that way for several hours now. The Outlook outage has left users across Outlook.com, Outlook Mobile, and Outlook desktop apps unable to access their mailboxes.

Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and says it’s actively working on a fix. According to their latest update, a configuration change is being rolled out to restore service—but it may take a while to reach everyone.

What’s Affected?

  • Outlook.com access
  • Outlook Mobile App
  • Outlook for Windows and macOS

That means if you’re trying to send, receive, or even see your emails, you might be out of luck for now.

What Microsoft Says

“We’ve begun a broad expedited deployment of the configuration change across all affected infrastructure,” said Microsoft. “We expect most impacted users will experience relief within the next two hours…”

They also added they’re monitoring service health telemetry, which is just a techy way of saying “we’re watching everything closely to make sure it doesn’t break again.”

When Did It Start?

Reports started flooding DownDetector over five hours ago. As of the last update, more than 2,400 people had reported issues with Microsoft Outlook not working properly.

What You Can Do Right Now:

Final Thoughts

This Microsoft Outlook outage might have you wondering how we ever survived without email (or maybe you’re enjoying the peace?). Either way, hang tight, Outlook should be back online soon.
