Apple just rolled out a major update to Logic Pro for Mac and iPad, and it’s packed with features that producers and musicians will love. The standout changes include the ability to split guitar and piano stems, exciting new sound packs, MIDI Learn on iPad, and a clever Flashback Capture tool that can recover your music, even if you didn’t hit record.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Stem Splitter now separates guitar and piano from old recordings
  • Flashback Capture recovers performances you forgot to save
  • MIDI Learn comes to iPad for hands-on control
  • New sound packs include Dancefloor Rush, Magnetic Imperfections & Tosin Abasi
  • Only compatible with Apple Silicon Macs and post-M1 iPads

Extract Guitar & Piano Tracks with Improved Stem Splitter

Logic-Pro-Stem-Splitter

Apple says the updated Stem Splitter now delivers even more detailed audio separation. You can isolate vocals, instrumentals, or even just the guitar or piano from a mix.

“The updated Stem Splitter extracts greater detail from old recordings and demos, and now offers added support for guitar and piano stems.”

It also includes a handy submix feature that lets you export only the parts you need—for example, removing vocals for a clean instrumental.

Note: This feature won’t work on Intel-based Macs or older iPads.

Sound Packs to Fuel Creativity

Logic Pro Sound Pack

This update brings a serious sound upgrade. The Dancefloor Rush pack headlines the drop with:

  • Over 400 loops
  • Punchy drum kits
  • A custom Live Loops grid

Mac users also get two more exclusive packs:

  • Magnetic Imperfections: Grungy, analog-style tape textures
  • Tosin Abasi: Progressive metal guitars with boutique amp tones and signature riffs

Learn MIDI Comes to iPad

Logic Pro Learn MIDI for iPad

One of the most requested features has finally arrived: Learn MIDI on iPad.

“Learn MIDI is now available on iPad, allowing users to get hands-on control by easily assigning their favorite knobs, faders, and buttons on MIDI devices…”

This makes it easier than ever to link your MIDI hardware to Logic Pro’s instruments and plug-ins using a visual interface and real-time feedback.

Forgot to Hit Record? Flashback Capture Has Your Back

Logic Pro Flashback Capture

Every musician’s nightmare: playing the perfect take, but not recording it. With Flashback Capture, you can recover it:

“Flashback Capture allows artists to recover unforgettable performances, even if they forgot to hit record.”

It works for both audio and MIDI and supports multiple takes with Cycle mode, which automatically organizes everything into a take folder.

Flashback Capture only works when Logic Pro is actively playing.

Wrap-Up

This update shows that Apple is doubling down on powerful tools for creators, especially those using iPad and Apple Silicon Macs. Whether you’re remixing old demos, building live sets, or experimenting with MIDI gear, Logic Pro’s new features are designed to keep your creativity flowing.
