iPhone 17 Getting 6 New Shades, 4 For the iPhone 17 Air, and 5 for the iPhone 17 Pro Series. Here’s the Complete Breakdown.
Another day, another iPhone 17 leak, only this time, it’s more than just speculation. According to a report from Macworld, backed by what’s described as an “internal document” referencing Pantone color codes, we now have what looks like a definitive look at the color lineup for the entire iPhone 17 range.
This leak aligns closely with recent rumors about the iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro and Pro Max shared online, but the new report gives us Pantone codes and subtle design intentions behind each shade.
iPhone 17 (Six Color Options)
The base model iPhone 17 is set to arrive in these 6 colors:
- Black (same as iPhone 16)
- White (same as iPhone 16)
- Steel Gray (Pantone-18-4005-TPG)
- Green (Pantone 2282 U)
- Purple (Pantone 530 U)
- Light Blue (Pantone 658 U)

iPhone 17 Air (Four Softer Shades)
Apple’s all-new thin and light iPhone 17 Air will reportedly feature a more muted palette to reinforce its lighter design:
- Black
- White (brighter/colder tone)
- Light Blue (Pantone 657 U – even lighter than the base model)
- Light Gold (Pantone 11-0604 TPG Gardenia)

iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max – Five Bold Colors
For the Pro lineup, Apple is sticking to its trend of deeper, more premium finishes:
- Black
- White
- Gray (Natural Titanium-inspired)
- Dark Blue (Pantone 19-4025 TPG – Mood Indigo)
- Orange (Pantone 1501243 TCX – Papaya, reportedly with a fluorescent tone)

The distinctions are subtle but intentional, especially between the two light blue tones for iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air. According to Macworld, Apple wants to visually reinforce the Air’s feather-light design (reportedly around 145g and just 5.5mm thick) through its color choices. Apple’s also expected to give the iPhone 17 Air the titanium treatment, exclusively.
As always, Apple’s attention to detail is unmatched, and with Apple’s iPhone 17 launch event just weeks away, this leak might be the most accurate look yet at what’s coming.
