iOS 26 Beta 1 OTA is Now Rolling Out, Here’s What to Expect From it

This first beta gives developers and curious users a chance to dive into Apple’s next-generation software for iPhone and iPad, ahead of its public release later this year.

As expected from a first beta, iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 bring early access to the features Apple announced on stage, including enhancements to Messages, improvements in AI-driven features (under Apple Intelligence), design tweaks across the system, smarter interactions across apps, enhanced multi-tasking on the iPad, and much more.

The beta also lays the groundwork for deeper updates to come in future builds, especially for developers building around new APIs.

If you’re a registered developer and want to try the latest beta, here’s a quick refresher on how to get it:

⚠️ Note: As with any beta, proceed with caution — especially if you rely on your device daily. Bugs can still sneak through at this stage.

  1. Developer Enrollment: Make sure your Apple ID is registered with the Apple Developer Program (developer.apple.com).
  2. Enable Beta Updates: On your device, head to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, then choose iOS 26 beta.
  3. Install: Go back to the main Software Update screen and download the latest iOS 26 beta 1. Stay connected to Wi-Fi and a power source during installation.

That’s pretty much there is to it. Stay tuned for more updates including the release of a public beta that is likely launching next month.
