Apple’s new iOS 19 update is getting smarter about power consumption, and your battery worries may go away.

As we inch closer to WWDC next month, leaks and teasers about iOS 19 are starting to roll in, and if you’re constantly reaching for a charger, you’ll like this one.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iOS 19 is set to bring an AI-powered battery life upgrade that could stretch your iPhone’s juice further than ever before.

Yep, Apple’s getting smarter about battery life, and it’s doing it with something called Apple Intelligence. This isn’t your average low power mode either. This new feature will actually analyze how you use your iPhone and then tweak background activity and app behavior to save energy. Basically, it learns your habits, then adjusts power usage to match. Pretty slick.

A Smart Battery Saver Built Right In

Apple’s reportedly using a bunch of real-world battery data to train this system. So instead of just cutting performance across the board like old-school battery modes, it’ll target what you don’t need in the moment. The cherry on top? A new Lock Screen indicator that tells you how long your phone will take to fully charge. Finally, some transparency!

And while this will be part of the broader iOS 19 update this fall, one device in particular is going to really need it: the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.

Why the iPhone 17 Air Needs This More Than Anyone

The 17 Air is rumored to be an ultra-thin iPhone which is great for your pocket, not so great for battery size. Gurman says it’s getting a noticeably smaller battery than the standard and Pro models, meaning this smart battery-saving feature could be a lifesaver.

Luckily, the good news is that this AI-powered tool won’t be exclusive to the 17 Air. Any iPhone compatible with Apple Intelligence is expected to benefit from it. Still, if you’re planning to go ultra-slim this fall, it’s reassuring to know that your iPhone will at least be smarter about saving power.
