This release signals that the final public version of iOS 18.5 is right around the corner.

Settings > General > Software Update.

What’s New in iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5?

While iOS 18.5 isn’t packed with major front-facing features, it does include:

  • New Apple News+ daily crossword game additions
  • Siri improvements for initiating music and podcast playback from third-party apps
  • Updates under the hood to support upcoming Apple Music collaborative playlists
  • Bug fixes, security enhancements, and overall performance boosts

The new RC build brings in some further changes as well such as the Pride Harmony wallpaper, Satellite support for iPhone 13, and more. For complete changes, check here: What’s New in iOS 18.5 RC And iPadOS 18.5 RC.

iPadOS 18.5 shares most of these updates and improvements, especially around Apple services and media integration.

RC = Release Candidate = Almost Final

The RC version is typically the final build Apple plans to release to the public, unless a critical bug is found. So, if you’re thinking of trying it out, it’s a good time. This version is expected to be just as stable and polished as the official public release, which is likely to drop within the next week.
