Google is back with another entry in its long-running “BestPhonesForever” ad series, and this one is easily the most dramatic so far. To celebrate the release of Wicked: For Good, Google turned the Pixel and the iPhone into full-on musical performers. Yes, the phones actually sing.

The ad shows an iPhone praising the Pixel for “inspiring” it before transitioning into a parody of a Wicked song. Google uses the moment to claim that the Pixel has been first to several features that Apple eventually brought to the iPhone. These features include call screening, removing unwanted objects from photos, and having a more conversational AI assistant.

Google Says Pixel was First

The lyrics highlight a few specific areas where Google believes the Pixel has led the way.

  • Photo editing tools such as Magic Eraser
  • Call Screening which Pixel devices have offered for years
  • An advanced AI assistant that Google presents as more natural to talk to than Siri

The message is simple. Pixel innovates and Apple follows.

A Fun Ad But Not Very Informative

The funny thing is that even with all the singing, the ad does not explain any of the features in detail. The entire moment feels more humorous than educational which makes you wonder if entertainment alone is enough to sell phones.

Pixel fans will definitely enjoy the humor. The “BestPhonesForever” series has developed a loyal following since 2023 and now includes more than thirty episodes. For many viewers the ad is just another playful jab in the ongoing rivalry.

The Rivalry Is Not Ending Anytime Soon

Google has used humor to poke at Apple for years and the company is leaning even harder into the strategy as it positions Pixel as the most AI-forward smartphone in 2025. Expect more jokes and probably more singing as the competition intensifies.
