In a surprising yet exciting development, Google’s Gemini AI might soon become part of the iPhone experience.
During a court appearance today tied to Google’s ongoing antitrust trial, Bloomberg tells us that CEO Sundar Pichai expressed optimism about Gemini being integrated into Apple Intelligence, and it could happen as early as this year.
Pichai said he’s been in talks with Apple CEO Tim Cook throughout 2024 and is hopeful that a deal could be finalized by mid-year. That timing seems intentional, as Apple’s annual WWDC event kicks off on June 9, where the company is expected to reveal iOS 19 and other major software updates for the fall.
A Potential Gemini + Siri Collaboration?
If this partnership goes through, we could see Gemini AI on iOS 19 working similarly to how ChatGPT currently operates within iOS 18. That means you might be able to ask, “Siri, ask Gemini…” or have Siri automatically route certain requests to Gemini when it’s better suited for the task.
Apple introduced its Apple Intelligence platform last year with iOS 18, along with the integration of ChatGPT via OpenAI. Adding Gemini into the mix would give users more flexibility and choice in how they interact with AI on their devices. It’s a move that could position iPhones as a leading hub for generative AI tools; all built right into the OS.
The real win here could be for users who already lean into Google’s ecosystem. Folks who use Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google Docs might find a Gemini-powered assistant more aligned with their daily workflow.

There’s no official confirmation yet, but the idea of having both ChatGPT and Gemini available as AI options within Apple Intelligence is pretty exciting, and a sign that Apple is doubling down on becoming a true AI platform, not just dabbling in it.
