Apple has released iOS 26.1 beta 3, and this version packs a few interesting updates that refine the iPhone experience while hinting at what’s next for Apple’s expanding software ecosystem. Here’s what’s new.
Apple TV+ Gets a New Look
Apple is officially rebranding its streaming service from Apple TV+ to simply Apple TV. Along with the shorter name, Apple is giving the app a “vibrant new identity.”

The first change users will notice is a refreshed app icon that replaces the old gray look with a splash of color. The colorful new icon is available across all Apple platforms running the latest 26.1 beta, including Apple TV devices.
Local Capture Settings on iPhone and iPad
With iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, Apple introduced Local Capture, a new feature that allows users to record audio directly from a connected microphone. In iOS 26.1 beta 3, there’s now a dedicated Local Capture section under Settings > General.
Users can adjust gain levels, choose where recordings are saved, and even limit Local Capture to audio-only mode for better control during recordings.
More AI Options on the Horizon
The beta also includes new code strings that point to third-party AI provider support coming soon to Apple Intelligence. So far, Apple has only partnered with OpenAI for ChatGPT integration, but this update suggests that Google Gemini and other AI tools could soon be supported as well.
Other Updates
Apple is also continuing work on Notification Forwarding for third-party smartwatches, which could improve how non-Apple wearables handle iPhone alerts.
iOS 26.1 beta 3 may not bring big visual changes, but it’s clear Apple is laying the groundwork for a more open, connected, and customizable iPhone experience.
