Apple is now rolling out new beta firmware (build 8A5324b) for the AirPods Pro 2 and the AirPods 4, bringing early access to fresh audio features set to debut in iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26.

What’s New in the Beta Firmware

Firmware build 8A5308b came out 3 weeks ago, and now build 8A5324b is available to both developers and public beta testers. To install the firmware, you’ll need a device running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS 26.

Highlight Features:

  • Improved call and video call audio quality
  • Studio-grade audio recording for podcasts, interviews, and video production
  • AirPods as a remote shutter: Take photos or start videos using the AirPods in the Camera app

This builds on Apple’s initiative to elevate AirPods into versatile content tools, extending well beyond music playback.

Easier Firmware Access in iOS 26 and macOS 26

With this cycle, Apple also introduced a firmware installation option directly from the AirPods settings, making beta testing much more accessible when your AirPods are paired with a supported device.
