Apple has rolled out a new firmware update for the Powerbeats Pro 2, bringing the earbuds to version 8A359.

The update follows the previous 8A353 release from September and is now available for users worldwide.

As usual with Beats firmware updates, Apple hasn’t shared detailed release notes. That said, this update is widely expected to focus on bug fixes and performance improvements rather than introducing major new features.

The last significant firmware update for Powerbeats Pro 2 arrived alongside iOS 26 and added deeper system-level integration, including Fitness app compatibility and support for real-time performance metrics. Those features helped position the Powerbeats Pro 2 as Apple’s most fitness-focused earbuds to date.

Notably, Powerbeats Pro 2 were also Apple’s first earbuds with built-in in-ear heart rate monitoring, a capability that has since expanded to the AirPods Pro 3 lineup. There’s no indication that today’s firmware update changes or expands heart rate tracking features, but stability improvements in that area wouldn’t be surprising.

How to Install the Powerbeats Pro 2 Firmware Update

Firmware updates install automatically in the background. To ensure your earbuds receive the latest version:

  • Place your Powerbeats Pro 2 in their charging case
  • Connect the case to power
  • Make sure the earbuds are within Bluetooth range of an iPhone, iPad, or Mac connected to Wi-Fi

You can check the installed firmware version on iPhone by heading to Settings > Bluetooth, then tapping the info (i) button next to your Powerbeats Pro 2.

For Android users, firmware updates are delivered through the Beats app for Android.

If Apple shares more details about what’s included in firmware version 8A359, we’ll update accordingly.
