So Apple just dropped two fresh new ads for the MacBook Pro, and yes, they look great. Classic Apple: clean shots, minimal dialogue, weirdly serene music. But after watching both, I couldn’t help but think… is this really moving the needle?

Ad 1: Nano-Texture Keeping the Sun Away

The first one’s a guy sunbathing on a rooftop with his MacBook Pro. The sun is blazing, but he’s chillin’, zero glare. Apple’s flexing the nano-texture display, which is fancy talk for “etched glass that reduces reflections.” It’s actually pretty cool tech which does make a difference, no doubt. But most of us aren’t writing code or editing videos while tanning.

Also, it’s a $150 upgrade. Feels like something made for studio folks, photographers, or the small crowd of rooftop power users. (Is that a thing now?)

Ad 2: Battery So Good You Forget It Exists

This one I liked more. It’s just a guy who lost his charger but didn’t realize because his MacBook kept running. And yeah, 24 hours of video playback or 16 hours of web is pretty sweet.

Battery life is one of those things that may not be sexy in ads, but is a total game-changer in real life. Apple’s been quietly crushing it here with the M-series chips. This ad kind of undersells how good the battery really is — but I get it, chill vibes over tech specs.

So, Who Are These Ads For?

Both ads send you to Apple’s “Mac Does That” page, which is basically their pitch to Windows users thinking about switching. Makes sense to be honest. If you think about it, they feel more like intro to Mac ads than a “hey, upgrade your Pro” message.

If you’re already using a MacBook Pro, these don’t really say much you didn’t already know. But if you’re new to the ecosystem or still hanging on to a crusty old laptop… yeah, maybe this gets your attention.

Final Thoughts? Meh, they’re fine. The ads are fun, they’re smooth, but they’re also kind of safe. No big message, no bold claims, just a reminder that Macs have nice screens and last long. Which is true! But also, not exactly news.
