Apple confirms some iOS 26 features like Visited Places and iPhone Mirroring won’t launch in the EU due to DMA concerns, citing security and privacy risks.

Apple to EU: You’re Not Getting the Full iOS 26 Experience

Apple has officially told EU regulators that some of the most anticipated iOS 26 features won’t be rolling out in Europe, at least not anytime soon.

Why? According to Apple, the Digital Markets Act (DMA) is creating too many security, privacy, and safety risks to release certain tools in the region.

What Features Are Missing in the EU?

So far, the following iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 features are being withheld in the EU:

As per The Wall Street Journal, Apple’s legal VP, Kyle Andeer, told officials at the 2025 DMA Compliance Workshop in Brussels that the company has already delayed “products and features” because of the DMA’s vague and open-ended requirements.

Why Is Apple Holding Back Features?

Apple argues the DMA forces it to expose technologies and user data to rivals, including companies like Meta, which Apple believes could exploit that access.

Andeer claims that Apple’s hands are tied: if it rolls out certain features in Europe, it may be forced to offer them to any company that asks, regardless of their security record.

The EU, meanwhile, simply replied that “Apple and the EU disagree.”

What’s Next?

Apple isn’t backing down, and the EU isn’t changing course, which means EU users may continue missing out on headline features. While the DMA’s goal is to help consumers, Apple argues that it’s actually giving big corporations an unfair advantage, and leaving everyday users behind.
