A new report has doubled down on earlier rumors that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup will include more RAM, especially for the Pro models.

According to TrendForce, three of the four iPhone 17 models are set to ship with 12GB of RAM, marking a notable step up from the iPhone 16 series.

Confirmation of Earlier Rumors

Back in April, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple’s iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max would all get 12GB of memory. In July, Fixed Focus Digital shard similar information. Now, TrendForce’s report echoes that prediction, citing current market data and analyst projections.

The only outlier? The standard iPhone 17, which will stick with 8GB of RAM, the same as all iPhone 16 models.

This gives Apple’s higher-end models a 50% memory increase, a clear move to better support multitasking, gaming, and Apple Intelligence features expected to be a major focus in iOS 26 and beyond.

A Justification for Higher Prices?

Interestingly, this memory bump comes just as rumors point to a $200 price increase for the iPhone 17 Pro compared to last year’s entry-level Pro. The Pro and Pro Max are also said to start with 256GB storage instead of 128GB, meaning Apple could be positioning the RAM and storage boosts as part of the justification for the bigger price tag.

Launch Coming Soon

Apple will unveil the full iPhone 17 lineup at its September 9 “Awe dropping” event. If the report proves accurate, Pro buyers will be getting more than just camera and display upgrades this year, they’ll also have extra memory power to work with, albeit at a higher cost.
