Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is expected to debut with a higher starting price, but also with double the base storage compared to last year’s model.

Higher Price, More Storage Starting at 256GB

A new leak from Instant Digital claims the iPhone 17 Pro will start at $1,049 for 256GB of storage, up from $999 for the 128GB iPhone 16 Pro. The move eliminates the entry-level 128GB configuration entirely, leaving just 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB tiers.

This mirrors Apple’s 2023 strategy for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which saw a $100 price bump but launched with 256GB as the new base.

Expected iPhone 17 Lineup Pricing

According to the leak, Apple’s 2025 lineup will be priced as follows:

  • iPhone 17: $799 (128GB base)
  • iPhone 17 Air: $949 (128GB base, replaces Plus)
  • iPhone 17 Pro: $1,049 (256GB base)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,249 (256GB base, unconfirmed)

What It Means for Buyers

While the Pro models will cost $50 more than their predecessors, buyers will get more storage at the entry level, though those looking for the lowest-priced Pro iPhone will now have to spend more.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 series on September 9, with the Pro models retaining their premium titanium build, upgraded cameras, and A19 Pro chip.
