Apple is opening a new store in Bengaluru’s Phoenix Mall of Asia, making it the third official Apple Store in India, as reported by Business Standard. This move highlights Apple’s growing focus on the Indian market, even as U.S.–China tensions heat up and pressure mounts on the company to shift production.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Apple’s third India store will be in Phoenix Mall of Asia, Bengaluru.
  • Follows earlier stores in Mumbai and Delhi, both opened in 2023.
  • 10-year lease with revenue sharing: 2% for first 3 years, 2.5% after.
  • Part of Apple’s plan to open four new stores in India (Pune, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru).

Apple Expands India Retail Presence

Apple’s decision to open a third store in India shows a clear shift in its global strategy. The new 8,000 sq. ft. store in Bengaluru’s Phoenix Mall of Asia will further anchor the company in one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets.

This follows Apple’s first two stores in Mumbai and Delhi, launched in 2023. CEO Tim Cook has made it clear: India is a big part of Apple’s future.

“We expect the majority of iPhones sold in the U.S. will have India as their country of origin,” Cook said during Apple’s Q2 2025 earnings call.

Apple’s increasing reliance on Indian production is a response to global trade shifts. As manufacturing continues to move from China to India and Vietnam, Apple is also facing political pressure back home.

President Trump recently warned that iPhones not made in the U.S. may face a 25% import tax, which could directly impact Apple’s pricing and strategy.

Still, with retail expansion and supply chain relocation already in motion, Apple seems committed to making India a key hub, both for manufacturing and retail growth.
