A new batch of leaks is offering a clearer picture of what Apple may be planning for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The latest reports from well-known Weibo leakers outline possible design tweaks, new dimensions, and key hardware upgrades expected later this year.

While the changes may not be dramatic, they suggest Apple is focusing more on battery capacity and performance improvements than major exterior redesigns.

Here’s what the newest leaks claim.

iPhone 18 Pro Max could get slightly thicker

One of the more concrete details from the leak involves the thickness of the Pro Max model.

According to leaker Ice Universe, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could measure around 8.8mm thick, a very small increase compared to previous generations.

For comparison:

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 8.25mm
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 8.75mm
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max (rumored): 8.8mm

The difference is minor, but the change could be linked to a larger battery inside the device.

Leaks suggest the Pro Max model could feature a battery around the 5100–5200 mAh range, slightly larger than its predecessor.

In other words, Apple may be trading a fraction of thinness for improved battery life.

Apple may reuse parts of the iPhone 17 Pro design

Another leak from Digital Chat Station claims Apple could reuse some manufacturing molds from the iPhone 17 Pro for the next generation.

If that ends up happening, the overall shape and structure of the device may remain largely unchanged.

This also introduces some uncertainty around another rumored change: a smaller Dynamic Island.

Earlier reports suggested Apple might shrink the Dynamic Island significantly by moving some Face ID components under the display. But if the company reuses existing molds, that redesign might not happen yet.

Instead, the Dynamic Island could remain mostly the same size for another year, with bigger changes pushed to a later model.

Three upgrades that could define the iPhone 18 Pro

Even if the exterior design stays similar, the leaks point to several internal upgrades that could headline the new device.

Iphone 18 Pro 5g Via Satellite

According to the latest reports, the iPhone 18 Pro could feature:

A20 Pro chip with a 2nm process

Apple is expected to move to a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, which should bring better performance and efficiency compared with previous chips.

Larger battery capacity

As mentioned earlier, a battery exceeding 5000 mAh could deliver longer battery life.

Variable aperture camera

Leaks also mention camera improvements, including a variable aperture system that would allow the camera to adjust how much light reaches the sensor. This could improve photography in different lighting conditions.

5G via satellite

Apple’s upcoming C2 modem chip, expected to debut in the iPhone 18 Pro, will support NR-NTN according to Fixed Focus Digital. NR-NTN stands for New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks. In plain English, that means 5G over satellite.

A more iterative iPhone upgrade?

If these leaks prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro may end up being a refinement-focused update rather than a major redesign.

Apple could be prioritizing:

  • better battery life
  • improved chip efficiency
  • camera flexibility

while keeping the overall design familiar.

That strategy would not be surprising. Apple often alternates between big design overhauls and smaller performance-focused upgrades in the years between them.

With the iPhone 18 lineup expected to arrive around September, it may not be long before we learn which of these rumored changes actually make the cut.
