Veteran tech journalist David Pogue has posted a short video offering an early preview of his upcoming book, Apple: The First 50 Years, which explores the company’s five-decade history.
Launching March 10
The 600-page book is scheduled for release on March 10. Even ahead of launch, it has climbed to the top spot in Amazon’s History of Technology category and is expected to rank highly on broader bestseller lists once officially released.
Pogue says he spent two years working on the project and conducted roughly 150 interviews, including conversations with current Apple executives.
What the book covers
Described as deeply researched and fully illustrated in color, Apple: The First 50 Years features interviews with 150 key figures involved in Apple’s rise, including:
- Steve Wozniak
- John Sculley
- Jony Ive
- Numerous current designers, engineers, and executives
The book revisits both Apple’s landmark successes, including the iPod, iPad, and iPhone eras, and notable missteps such as the Apple Lisa, Apple III, and MobileMe.
According to Pogue, the book also aims to debunk long-standing myths and examine the competitive and structural forces facing Apple as it enters its second half-century.
Press tour to follow
Following the March 10 release, Pogue will begin a press tour currently scheduled for 11 appearances across 10 cities, with additional stops expected to be announced.
