Spotify Wrapped season is officially here which means every platform is rushing to show you who you really are online. This year, YouTube is joining the party in a big way. For the first time ever, YouTube is giving users a personalized Recap for the videos they watched on the main platform, not just YouTube Music.
And honestly, it is kind of addictive.
Meet Your YouTube Personality Type

YouTube Recap pulls together up to twelve personalized cards that break down your top channels, the categories you obsessed over, how your viewing habits changed over the year, and even assigns you a personality type based on what you watch.
Some highlights:
- Skill Builder if you watch tutorials and productivity content
- Sunshiner if you go for feel-good positivity
- Trailblazer if you like original or experimental stuff
- Wonder Seeker, Connector, Dreamer, and others round out the list
It is basically YouTube’s way of saying “here is who you are at 2 AM when you’re clicking videos you swore would not ruin your sleep schedule”.
Users can also view their top songs and artists of the year, although deeper music stats still live inside the YouTube Music Recap that rolled out last week.
Available Now and Rolling Out Globally
Recap is available today for users in North America with a global rollout happening over the week. You can find your Recap on the YouTube homepage or under the You tab. It works on mobile and desktop, so you can cringe at your viewing history anywhere.
YouTube says users heavily requested this feature. The company tested more than fifty concepts before choosing this final format which explains why it feels so polished.
Alongside the Recap launch, YouTube also dropped new trend charts with top creators and top podcasts of the year. No surprise, MrBeast held the number one creator spot for the sixth year straight. The Joe Rogan Experience topped podcasts and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die with a Smile” landed as the top song.
The timing is interesting too. YouTube Recap arrived the same day as Apple Music Replay. Spotify has not released Wrapped yet which makes this a strategic move to grab the earliest social media spotlight.
If you are someone who lives for end-of-year content breakdowns, YouTube’s new Recap is absolutely worth checking out. You will either feel validated or hilariously called out. Either way, it is a fun watch.
