WhatsApp is getting ready to launch a native document scanner, and it’s now rolling out to even more Android beta testers. Soon, you won’t need a separate app to scan and send PDFs right from your chat window.

Snap, Scan, and Send Documents – All Inside WhatsApp

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s document scanning tool is coming along nicely and now supports both manual and automatic capture modes.

  • Manual mode gives you control over framing, lighting, and alignment.
  • Auto mode detects edges and captures the document for you, no extra taps required.

Once a scan is captured, WhatsApp automatically converts it into a PDF, ready to send in chats or group threads. It’s a native feature, so you don’t need third-party apps making it perfect for privacy and convenience.

And speaking of privacy: everything from scanning to conversion happens locally on your device, using Android’s built-in API. Plus, once sent, your scanned PDFs are end-to-end encrypted, just like any other message on WhatsApp.

When Can You Try It?

The feature has been spotted in earlier Android beta builds, and this week it’s being made available to more testers. If all goes smoothly, it could hit the stable release soon. No exact date has been mentioned yet, but it looks imminent.

Bonus: If you’re in the beta program, you might also notice Meta testing custom chat color themes which is another personalization feature that hasn’t gone public yet.
