The Apple Vision Pro is about to get a big boost for gaming. Valve has released the first beta of a native Steam Link app for visionOS, allowing users to stream games from their PC or Mac directly to the headset.

The beta version is available now through TestFlight, giving early testers a chance to try PC gaming on Vision Pro before the official release.

Steam Link lets you play your Steam games on Vision Pro

The new app will let Vision Pro users stream games from their Steam library.

Steam Link already exists on several Apple devices including:

  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • Mac
  • Apple TV

With the new visionOS version, those same games can be streamed directly to a large virtual display inside Vision Pro.

This means users can launch a game running on their PC and play it inside the headset without installing the game locally.

The Vision Pro version supports large panoramic game displays

According to Valve, the visionOS beta improves streaming performance and adds new display customization features.

The app supports:

  • Streaming up to 4K resolution
  • Improved network performance for smoother gameplay
  • Adjustable curved panoramic displays inside visionOS

These options allow players to position a large virtual screen in front of them and adjust the curvature for a more immersive gaming experience.

VR games are not supported yet

One important limitation remains. The Steam Link app on Apple Vision Pro currently supports 2D game streaming only.

That means native VR titles from Steam cannot be played through this version of the app.

Instead, the experience is similar to watching content on a massive virtual monitor, which is already one of the headset’s strengths.

Gaming on Vision Pro continues to expand

Gaming on the Apple Vision Pro has been gradually improving with recent updates to visionOS 26.4.

While the platform still lacks dedicated AAA games designed specifically for spatial computing, streaming solutions like Steam Link could dramatically expand the number of titles available.

For many players, simply being able to stream their existing PC game library onto a massive virtual display could make Vision Pro far more appealing as a gaming device.
