The ongoing memory and storage shortage has officially disrupted a major gaming device. The Steam Deck is now out of stock across the U.S. Steam Store, with Valve warning that availability may remain unstable.
Steam Deck OLED impacted by memory shortages
On its store page, Valve posted a notice stating that Steam Deck OLED models may be out of stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages.
The shortage is widely attributed to rising demand for RAM and NAND storage components, largely driven by AI infrastructure expansion. Increased data center buildouts and AI hardware production have tightened global supply, affecting consumer electronics manufacturers.
As a result, every Steam Deck model, both LCD and OLED, is currently unavailable on the U.S. Steam Store.
Steam Deck LCD officially discontinued
Valve also reiterated that the Steam Deck LCD 256GB model is no longer in production. Once regional inventory sells out, it will not return.
That leaves only two active models in the lineup:
- 512GB Steam Deck OLED priced at $549
- 1TB Steam Deck OLED priced at $649
While some European regions still have limited LCD inventory, U.S. buyers no longer have that option.
Other Valve hardware also delayed

The memory crunch is affecting more than just the Steam Deck.
Valve recently confirmed delays for its new Steam Machine and the Steam Frame VR headset, citing the same component shortages and pricing volatility. According to Valve, the limited availability and rapidly rising cost of memory components have forced the company to reassess launch timelines and pricing.
Could prices increase?
Valve has not announced any Steam Deck OLED price increases. However, with RAM and storage costs climbing, pricing pressure remains a possibility.
For now, the bigger issue is availability. The AI driven memory surge has tightened supply chains across the industry, and the Steam Deck appears to be one of the first major gaming consoles directly impacted.
