Nothing, the London-based tech company, has confirmed that its upcoming flagship, the Nothing Phone (3), will not feature the Glyph Interface.
Nothing’s Iconic Glyph Interface is Now Officially Discontinued
The Glyph was a distinctive design element characterized by LED lights on the back panel. Introduced with the Phone (1) in 2022, the Glyph Interface served both aesthetic and functional purposes, such as notifications and visual alerts.
In a recent teaser video posted on X, Nothing declared, “We killed the Glyph Interface,” showing the familiar lights of the Phone 1 dimming to black. This move signals a significant shift in the company’s design philosophy.
While the exact details of the new design remain under wraps, speculation points toward a dot-matrix display on the rear of the device. This potential feature aligns with the design language of Nothing OS 3.0 and could offer interactive pixel-based animations or notifications, providing a fresh take on rear-panel functionality.
Expected Nothing Phone (3) Specs and Features

- A redesigned triple-lens system with a 50MP main sensor and a 32MP front camera

As Nothing moves away from its signature Glyph Interface, we await to see how the company will redefine its design identity and user experience with the Phone 3.
The 404 Take?
Personally, while the Glyph Interface felt gimmicky at times, it was pleasing on the eyes and unlike anything on the market. Even the uninitiated would get their guess right on seeing the phone out in the wild, or if they saw photos of it on the web. This was a brand identity, it was pure… Nothing.
