Apple’s revamped AI-powered Siri won’t be arriving until 2026, according to new reports. Originally expected in iOS 18, the smarter Siri is now set to launch with iOS 26.4 somewhere likely in March next year.
Siri’s Big Update Gets Pushed to 2026
Apple first teased a more intelligent version of Siri at WWDC 2025, but don’t expect to use it anytime soon. In an interview this week, Apple’s Greg Joswiak confirmed the new Siri experience will roll out in 2026.
Now a detailed report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman adds that iOS 26.4, expected around March, is the internal target for release.
So what’s the hold-up? It comes down to engineering challenges. Apple reportedly struggled with a buggy system that tried to combine the old Siri architecture with its new “Siri LLM” model. The result? Frequent failures, missed deadlines, and internal shakeups—including leadership changes within the Siri and AI teams.
What’s Coming with the New Siri?
The upgraded Siri is expected to be more contextual, meaning it will better understand what you’re doing and offer smarter, multi-step assistance. Apple says it will integrate more deeply with apps, on-screen content, and personal data, all while prioritizing privacy.
While the company showed off new Apple Intelligence features at WWDC, Siri itself was noticeably absent. Apple’s Craig Federighi admitted the assistant “needed more time to reach our high quality bar.”

Looking Ahead: Siri as a Copilot
Apple reportedly has bigger plans for Siri down the road. Think real-time support, more natural conversation, and even a possible standalone chatbot-like tool called “Knowledge.” These features aim to make Siri feel more like a helpful digital copilot than a basic voice assistant.
Until then, circle March 2026 as your best bet for the new Siri, unless it slips again.
