Leaked images reveal Meta’s third-gen Ray-Ban smart glasses with a new design, codenames Aperol and Bellini, better battery life, and improved AI, still no display.
Meta isn’t done with its smart eyewear ambitions. A new leak gives us a first look at what could be the third-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, and while there’s still no display, they’re expected to pack improved AI features and better battery life.
Leaked Designs and Codenames
Shared by the XR Research Institute on WeChat (via UploadVR), the leak reveals two models:
- Ray-Ban Meta 3 (Codename: Aperol)
- Ray-Ban Meta 3 Optical (Codename: Bellini)
Both names previously popped up in a report from The Information, as pointed out by 9to5Google. The new frames appear to lean into more classic Ray-Ban styling—one leaning toward everyday sunglasses, the other more traditional optical wear.

Big Battery, Smarter AI
The standout claim? “Significantly better” battery life. The glasses are reportedly able to run Meta’s Live AI features for hours—up from the current ~30-minute limit. The AI itself is said to get smarter too, with real-time object recognition and scene understanding.
Still No Display
Just like the previous generations, these upcoming Ray-Ban Meta glasses won’t feature a display. They’re designed to be lightweight and stylish, focusing on voice-activated AI rather than augmented reality visuals.
What’s Next?
With Meta already experimenting with display-equipped glasses under the Orion project, these display-less Ray-Bans might continue as a lighter, always-on assistant. Expect more details soon if a fall launch follows Meta’s usual hardware calendar.
