Apple has officially announced macOS 26 “Tahoe” at WWDC 2025, and it’s packed with exciting updates, from a fresh new look to smarter features powered by Apple Intelligence.

A Fresh New Design with Liquid Glass UI

macOS Tahoe 26 introduces a beautiful new visual update, starting with the Liquid Glass UI. This design brings sleek transparency, glowing surfaces, and refreshed app icons to the Dock. The Control Center also gets a modern redesign, making it easier to customize settings with fewer clicks.

Spotlight Search Gets Smarter

Spotlight search has been completely overhauled in macOS Tahoe. Now, all your files, events, apps, and even documents from third-party cloud services show up in one unified search view.

Plus, new Quick Actions let you run commands right from search results, like opening a file, setting a reminder, or sending a message.

iPhone Features Come to the Mac

For the first time, the Phone app is coming to macOS. You can view recent calls, check voicemails, and manage contacts right from your Mac. Even better, Live Activities from your iPhone now show on your Mac desktop—perfect for keeping tabs on flights, deliveries, or sports scores in real-time.

Apple Intelligence + New Apps

macOS 26 integrates Apple Intelligence throughout the system. That means smarter language translations in Messages and FaceTime, better suggestions in Shortcuts, and creative tools like Genmoji and Image Playground right on your Mac.

Other cool additions:

  • The new Games app lets you organize your games and see what your friends are playing.
  • Messages gets polls and customizable backgrounds in group chats.
  • The Journal app from iPhone now comes to Mac.

macOS Tahoe 26 is available in developer beta today, with a public release set for later next month. Stay tuned, this is one of the boldest Mac updates in years.
