Apple has officially moved macOS Tahoe 26.3 into the Release Candidate (RC) stage after three beta releases. This is typically the final version before the update rolls out publicly, assuming no major issues are found over the next few days.

If you have been testing the beta cycle, this is a good sign that the full release is very close.

A quieter macOS update

Unlike iOS 26.3, which brings a few headline changes like new EU-required notification forwarding features, macOS Tahoe 26.3 looks like a more low-key release.

So far, Apple is focusing mostly on:

  • Bug fixes
  • Stability improvements
  • General performance refinements

In other words, this is the kind of update that may not feel flashy, but should make the Mac experience smoother overall.

Apple is also rolling out the RC not just for developers, but for users enrolled in the public beta program as well.

How to install macOS Tahoe 26.3 Release Candidate

If you want to install the RC version, here’s the process:

  1. Backup your Mac
  2. Open System Settings
  3. Go to General > Software Update
  4. Tap the Beta Updates option
  5. From the dropdown, choose macOS Developer Tahoe Beta
  6. Hit Done, then install the update

As always, Release Candidates are very close to final software, but it is still best to avoid installing on your primary work machine unless you are comfortable with beta testing.
