Apple has released macOS 26.4 beta 2 to developers, just one week after seeding the first beta. While there is still no sign of the rumored Gemini-powered Siri integration, this update continues shaping up to be more feature-focused than macOS 26.3.

The latest build number is 25E5218f.

Charge limit setting comes to macOS

One of the most notable additions introduced in beta 1 is the new Charge Limit setting. macOS 26.4 allows users to manually set a maximum battery charge level between 80 percent and 100 percent.

This feature has long been available through third-party utilities, but it is now built directly into the system. The goal is to help extend battery longevity by preventing constant full 100 percent charging.

Compact Safari tab bar returns

macOS 26.4 beta 1 also restored the compact tab bar option in Safari. Apple had previously removed this layout choice in macOS Tahoe 26, which sparked frustration among users who preferred the denser tab arrangement.

With 26.4, the compact tab bar makes a comeback, giving users more flexibility in how they manage browser tabs.

Corner radius bug still in question

There has been some confusion around a long-standing window resizing bug. Apple’s initial release notes claimed that the issue, where the resize pointer does not align properly with the window’s rounded corners, had been fixed.

However, Apple later updated the documentation to mark it as a known issue instead. It remains to be seen whether beta 2 fully resolves the bug or if it still persists.

Rosetta 2 support ending warnings begin

macOS 26.4 also begins notifying users about the eventual discontinuation of Rosetta 2 support.

Rosetta 2 enables Apple Silicon Macs to run Intel-based applications through dynamic binary translation. While support is expected to continue through macOS 28, Apple is now starting to warn users and developers in advance.

This early notification appears designed to push developers toward fully native Apple Silicon builds before the cutoff arrives.

No Gemini siri yet

Despite earlier rumors of a partnership between Apple and Google to power a Gemini-enhanced Siri experience, macOS 26.4 beta 2 does not include any visible Siri upgrades so far.

As always with early betas, additional changes may surface as developers dig deeper into the code.
