Apple has released macOS 26.4.1, a new software update for Mac users. The update arrives one day after Apple rolled out iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1 for iPhone and iPad.

Like those updates, macOS 26.4.1 appears to focus primarily on bug fixes and system improvements.

Update: Apple has updated its enterprise software changes page with an additional fix included in macOS 26.4.1. The update resolves an issue where MacBook Air with M5 and MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max could fail to join IEEE 802.1X Wi-Fi networks when content filter extensions were enabled.

Apple’s release notes are brief

Apple’s official notes for the update are minimal. According to the company:

This update provides bug fixes for your Mac.

Apple also directs users to its security update documentation page, though the company has not listed any specific security patches tied to this release.

macOS 26.4.1 may include an iCloud syncing fix

Although Apple hasn’t confirmed the details, the update may include the same iCloud-related fix introduced in iOS 26.4.1. The iPhone update addressed a bug in iOS 26.4 that prevented some apps from syncing properly through iCloud.

That issue affected apps built using Apple’s CloudKit, including both third-party apps and Apple services such as Apple Passwords.

Because Apple’s macOS update also lists bug fixes, it’s possible the same underlying sync issue has been addressed on Mac as well.

How to install macOS 26.4.1

You can install the update on your Mac by following these steps:

  1. Open System Settings
  2. Select General
  3. Click Software Update
  4. Install macOS 26.4.1

The update is available now for all compatible Mac models.

A small update ahead of WWDC

Updates like macOS 26.4.1 typically focus on stability improvements rather than introducing new features.

With WWDC expected in the coming months, Apple is likely concentrating on refining the current version of macOS before unveiling the next major release.
