The report comes from Instant Digital, who shared on Weibo that the iPhone Fold has now entered trial production at Foxconn.
Foxconn is responsible for assembling most iPhone models, so the start of trial production typically indicates that Apple is transitioning from development and prototype testing into the early stages of manufacturing.
For a completely new device category like Apple’s foldable iPhone, this step is especially significant.

According to sources cited by Bloomberg, Apple still intends to introduce the iPhone Fold during its typical September launch window alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Even if the device is announced at the same event, initial availability could be limited due to the complexity of manufacturing foldable displays.
Apple has followed a similar pattern before. The iPhone X, for example, launched slightly later than other iPhone models after its announcement.
