The foldable iPhone rumor mill just picked up again, and this one comes from none other than Mark Gurman at Bloomberg. According to him, Apple’s first foldable iPhone could arrive next year — and it’s shaping up to be pretty different from what we’ve seen on the Galaxy Z Fold lineup.
What’s in the iPhone Fold?
Here’s what Gurman says Apple is testing right now:
- Four cameras: one on the front, one inside, and two on the back.
- Touch ID power button: skipping Face ID, like the iPad Air and iPad mini.
- Second-gen C2 modem: but no physical SIM slot.
- Colors: black and white models are in testing.
Design-wise, it’ll apparently have a book-style fold, with a 5.5-inch cover screen and a larger 7.8-inch display inside.
The Crease Question

One of the biggest complaints with foldables is the crease. Both Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest Apple may solve this with a laser-drilled metal display plate that reduces stress when folding. The result? A crease that’s much less noticeable — something Samsung is also trying to pull off with its Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The 404 Take
If Apple really nails a crease-free design and throws in four cameras, this won’t just be another foldable — it’ll be the premium version of the concept. The choice of Touch ID over Face ID is interesting though, and feels like a “fold-first” compromise.
Apple is clearly playing the long game here. If the leaks hold up, 2026 might be the year we finally see Cupertino’s foldable dream unfold.
