Apple’s iPhone 17e could be a much bigger upgrade than expected. According to a new leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the upcoming budget-friendly iPhone will reportedly feature a new industrial design, the popular Dynamic Island, and Apple’s next-generation A19 chip.

What’s Changing From iPhone 16e

The current iPhone 16e still looks almost identical to the iPhone 14, complete with the classic notch and Apple’s A18 chip. With the iPhone 17e, Apple is rumored to be moving the entry-level model forward by finally adopting the Dynamic Island, similar to the iPhone 15 lineup, and giving the phone a fresh, more rounded frame design.

Expected iPhone 17e Specs

Here’s what the leak suggests about Apple’s next budget iPhone:

  • 6.1-inch OLED display (60Hz refresh rate)
  • A19 chip for better performance
  • 12MP front-facing camera with Face ID
  • 48MP main rear camera
  • Dynamic Island instead of the notch

Even with these upgrades, the iPhone 17e is expected to retain its affordable price point, which could make it the most appealing budget iPhone Apple has released in years.

Reliable Leak?

Digital Chat Station has a decent track record, having previously revealed details about the iPhone 15’s camera sensor and even the iPhone 12’s display design. Other reliable sources like Ming-Chi Kuo, Mark Gurman, and The Elec also back the timeline, pointing to an early 2026 launch for the iPhone 17e.

If true, the iPhone 17e could be the perfect balance between Apple’s latest design language and a lower price tag, something many users have been waiting for.
