Jon Prosser says he’s absolutely confident about the upcoming iPhone 17e. Yes, confident, despite currently being sued by Apple. You have to respect the commitment.

So what’s the deal this time?

iPhone 17e: Same story, louder confidence

According to Prosser, the iPhone 17e will:

  • Feature Dynamic Island
  • Start at $599
  • Begin at 256GB storage
  • Have a 6.1-inch 60Hz display with no ProMotion
  • Include a single 48MP rear camera
  • Come in black and white
  • Possibly add a third color, maybe lavender
  • Pack 8GB of RAM
  • Use a binned3ty A19 chip
  • Add MagSafe charging

If this sounds familiar, that’s because almost all of it has already been reported before. The overall vibe? This looks like a light refresh rather than a dramatic shift.

In other words, the 17e could be more “polished iteration” than “bold reinvention.”

The A19 twist

Iphone 17e Dynamic Island

Here’s the only real wrinkle. Previous reports suggested the 17e would use the standard A19 chip found in the 2025 iPhone 17 lineup. That alone would already give it a decent performance bump.

Prosser now claims it will use a binned A19 instead.

For anyone wondering what that means: a binned processor is basically a chip that didn’t fully meet the highest performance standards during manufacturing. It still works perfectly fine, but it might have a disabled core or slightly lower performance ceiling.

Translation: most people would never notice.

If true, that would let Apple keep costs down while still marketing the phone with an A19 badge. Very Apple move.

Dynamic Island… or not?

Iphone 17e Colors And Price

Prosser says he is not fully confident about the Dynamic Island, and honestly, this might be the most interesting part of the whole thing.

If Apple keeps the older notch instead of the Dynamic Island, it would make the 17e feel visually dated the moment it launches. Even Prosser joked that Apple should be embarrassed if that happens.

After years of design refinement, it would be a strange step backward.

Prosser had earlier also shared renders of the iPhone 18 Pro based on the rumor that the Dynamic Island was moving to the left of the phone. That rumor later turned out to be a case of mistranslation with Apple now expected to shrink the Dynamic Island and not relocate it.

Big picture: Minor update energy

Stepping back, none of this screams major overhaul. A single 48MP camera. 60Hz display. 6.1-inch panel. Familiar pricing.

This feels like Apple tightening the entry tier rather than redefining it. If the specs hold, the iPhone 17e would sit comfortably as the “modern but not Pro” option. Good storage. Decent chip. Updated design. Not flashy.

And honestly? That might be exactly the point.

Now we wait to see whether Prosser’s confidence holds up this time.
