Apple looks set to shake up iPhone pricing this year — but only for its Pro models. According to a new forecast from TrendForce, the standard iPhone 17 will stick to the familiar $799 starting point, while the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are tipped to climb higher in price, offset with a base storage bump.
Entry-level iPhone stays steady
If you’re eyeing the regular iPhone 17, good news: it’s expected to launch at the same $799 with 128GB of storage as last year’s iPhone 16. That should make it the “safe” choice for anyone who wants a new iPhone without spending four figures.
Pro Lineup: More Storage, Higher Prices
The Pro side of the lineup is where things get interesting. TrendForce claims the iPhone 17 Pro will start at $1,199, which is $200 higher than the 16 Pro — but it ditches the old 128GB tier and begins at 256GB. The iPhone 17 Pro Max follows a similar strategy, starting at $1,299 for 256GB.

Conflicting Forecasts
Interestingly, J.P. Morgan’s forecast earlier this week suggested the iPhone 17 Pro might start lower, at $1,099. If that’s the case, Apple fans could catch a small break.
The Bigger Picture
Apple has used this play before. The iPhone 15 Pro Max launched without a 128GB model, effectively pushing its entry price higher. Now, the rumored iPhone 17 Air and Pro lineup seems to continue that strategy — only with steeper jumps.
