The iPhone 17 Pro Max has only been in users’ hands for a few days, but we’re already seeing fresh details on its real-world performance.
ChargerLAB has tested Apple’s latest flagship, and the results confirm a big leap forward in charging speeds.
36W Charging Speeds on iPhone 17 Pro Max
Last year, the iPhone 16 Pro raised the bar by hitting around 30W, a 20% boost over the iPhone 15 Pro. Now, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has taken things further. According to ChargerLAB’s testing with 15 different Apple chargers, charging speeds hit 36W, which is another 20% year-over-year improvement.
Which Chargers Work Best?
The good news: you don’t need just one special adapter to get these results. Multiple Apple chargers hit the 36W mark, including the brand-new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter, which seems designed with iPhone fast charging in mind.

Apple’s MagSafe charger also performed well, delivering speeds up to 32W. But if you want to hit the absolute max, a wired connection with a 40W or higher Apple charger is the way to go.
What About Other Models?
So far, ChargerLAB has only shared results for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, tested exclusively with Apple chargers. Based on Apple’s own specs, the iPhone Air charges much slower at 20W and is unlikely to match these speeds, though it’ll be interesting to see independent tests once they roll out.
For now, the iPhone 17 Pro Max stands as Apple’s fastest-charging iPhone yet, shaving even more time off when you need a quick top-up.
