The wait is (almost) over: iOS 26 public beta is expected to land this week, and if that’s not exciting enough, reports say Apple is already moving full steam ahead on iOS 27, with foldable iPhone features in mind. Yes, you read that right.
iOS 26 Public Beta Release Date Is Near
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iOS 26 public beta will likely be released around Wednesday, July 23. While Apple only previously promised a July window, Gurman now says, “All indications are that iOS 26 should go into the public beta phase this coming week.” Gurman had earlier replied to a post on X, pointing out that a release can be expected around July 23.
Which Betas Will Be Released Together?
The iOS 26 beta isn’t coming alone. Expect public beta versions of:
- iPadOS 26
- macOS 26
- watchOS 26
- tvOS 26
- HomePod Software 26
- AirPods Firmware Beta (a first for public testers!)
Note: visionOS 26 will not be available in public beta, according to Apple’s beta portal.

iOS 27: Foldable iPhone, Anyone?
Already looking ahead, Gurman says Apple is beginning formal development of iOS 27, with a focus on tailored features for its rumored foldable iPhone. The foldable is reportedly aiming for a late 2026 release, and iOS 27 will be designed to support the unique interface needs of that device.
This could be a huge leap, not just a new iPhone, but a whole new way of using one.
Final Thoughts
Whether you’re eager to explore iOS 26’s glassy UI or just want early bragging rights, this week is your green light. But with Apple already talking about a foldable future, we might just be watching the next era of iPhone begin to take shape.
