Update: Apple has confirmed that all outages have now been fixed, so services are up and working normally.
Apple’s iCloud services are down for some users, affecting Mail, Photos, iWork, and more. Outage began shortly after 1 PM ET. Here’s what we know.
iCloud Is Down! Mail, Photos, and iWork Affected in Widespread Apple Outage
If your iCloud Mail won’t load or your Photos aren’t syncing, you’re not alone. Apple is currently experiencing a widespread iCloud outage, with services like Mail, Photos, iCloud Web Apps, and iWork affected for many users.
The outage began around 1:36 p.m. ET, according to Apple’s official System Status page. Reports on Downdetector spiked around the same time, confirming the issue is impacting users across the board.

What’s Not Working?
Per Apple’s status dashboard, the following services are impacted:
- iCloud Mail
- Photos
- iCloud Storage Upgrades
- iWork for iCloud
- iCloud Web Apps
Users are reporting issues like failed logins, sync errors, or full inaccessibility. Basically, if it lives in the cloud, it’s feeling a little foggy right now.
Business Services Were Down Earlier, Too
Interestingly, this comes just hours after another outage affected Apple’s business tools—Apple Business Essentials, Apple Business Manager, and Apple School Manager—which were marked as resolved around 1:30 p.m. ET. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.
Final Note
Apple hasn’t provided an official cause yet, but they’ve acknowledged the issue and are working on it. For now, if your iCloud feels like it’s ghosting you, you’re definitely not the only one.
