Google just dropped its first-ever AI-generated TV commercial, and it’s exactly what you’d expect from a company obsessed with search, smartness, and now, synthetic creativity.

The ad, titled “Quick Getaway”, promotes the new AI Mode in Google Search, and the entire thing was created using Veo 3, Google’s in-house video generation model. No cameras, no actors, no real turkeys. Just pure AI creativity featuring one very expressive stuffed animal.

Meet Tom, the Star Turkey

In the short, we follow Tom, a plush turkey who’s clearly over Thanksgiving. Using an Android phone, he searches for “somewhere with direct flights and no Thanksgiving… leaving tomorrow.”

Seconds later, AI Mode spins up destinations, and the visuals follow. Tom packs his bags, boards a plane, and ends up relaxing by a pool, all generated by Veo 3.

The campaign’s theme is “Just Ask Google.”
The message is clear: even a turkey can plan a better escape using AI Search.

Rolling Out Everywhere

According to The Wall Street Journal, the ad starts airing on TV today (before Halloween even ends) and will appear on YouTube, movie theaters, and digital platforms this weekend. A Christmas-themed sequel is already in the works.

Interestingly, the ad itself doesn’t feature an “AI-generated” label, though the YouTube version includes the “Altered or synthetic content” tag. Google’s reasoning? Most viewers don’t really care how an ad is made as long as it works.

Should We Care?

Honestly, yes.
This is a big shift in how ads are made and who makes them. Google’s Creative Lab came up with the concept first, then decided to produce it entirely with Veo 3 and other internal AI tools. It’s a strong example of how AI is moving from being a helper to becoming the actual creator.

While there are no digital humans yet, Google is clearly testing the boundaries of what AI-generated advertising can look like.

Bottom Line

AI just made its debut in mainstream television advertising, and Google is leading the charge. “Quick Getaway” isn’t just a fun little promo; it’s a glimpse at how fast AI-generated video is moving from a tech demo to prime time.
