Google is giving everyone a weekend treat: you can finally try Veo 3, its latest AI video generator, without paying a cent.

Normally Locked Behind Gemini Advanced Subscriptions, Free Users Can Now Make Three Short Clips Before the Trial Ends on Sunday at 10 p.m. PT.

Veo 3 is Google’s most advanced video model yet, launched back in May. It can turn a text prompt into an 8-second video with sound. Think background music, dialogue, or even ambient noise. Until now, only Pro and Ultra subscribers had access, but Google’s opening the doors just for this weekend.

Here’s the catch (well, not really): free users get access to Veo 3 Fast, which generates videos twice as quickly as the standard version while sticking to 720p resolution. The only reminder that it’s a freebie is a little “Veo” watermark in the corner of your clips. You can download them or grab a shareable link.

How to Try It Right Now?

If you’re planning to test it out, just fire up the Gemini app. You might see a pop-up inviting you to try Veo, but you can also find it by tapping the three-dot menu in the prompt bar and selecting “Video: Generate with Veo.” Write a prompt that sets the scene, throw in some style, background music, or dialogue, and let Gemini cook. It takes a few minutes, but the results can be surprisingly fun.

Josh Woodward from Gemini even teased that Google was “setting up a LOAD of TPUs” ahead of this weekend’s free-for-all, so expect the servers to be busy.

If you’ve been curious about AI video but never wanted to pay upfront, this is probably the best way to dip your toes in. Just be quick, it all disappears Sunday night.
