Apple is rolling out an updated build of iOS 26 beta 1 to developers, only a few days after releasing the original version. This isn’t beta 2, it’s still technically the first beta, just with a new internal build number.

If you’re testing iOS 26 on an iPhone 15 or iPhone 16, here’s what you need to know.

iPhone 15 and 16 Users Now Have A New iOS 26 Beta 1 Build 23A5260u OTA Update To Download and Install

The original iOS 26 beta 1 carried the build number 23A5260n. The newly released version is 23A5260u, which only changes the last letter. This is an indicator that this is a minor revision rather than a major update.

From what developers have observed so far, there are no visible user-facing changes. That likely means this updated build was released to fix a critical issue, possibly related to:

  • A security flaw
  • A stability bug
  • Or even internal code exposing future Apple products

Only for iPhone 15 and 16 Devices

This revised beta build is only available for iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models. If you’re using an iPhone 14 or older, you won’t see a new update prompt.

This selective release further supports the idea that the change was hardware-specific like maybe a fix aimed at newer devices running Apple’s latest A-series chips.

Should You Install It?

If you’re already on the original iOS 26 beta 1 and using an iPhone 15 or 16, it’s a good idea to install the updated build to ensure maximum stability and security.

However, if you haven’t installed iOS 26 beta yet and are on the fence, keep in mind:

  • This is still early beta software, meant for developers
  • Bugs, crashes, and app issues are common in these early stages
  • The public beta is expected next month, which may be more stable
