The iPhone 17 is less than two weeks away, and leaks keep rolling in. The latest comes from well-known leaker Majin Bu, who has shared details about a new official Apple accessory: the iPhone 17 Crossbody Strap.

A New Kind of iPhone Strap

Earlier this month, cloned packaging for Apple’s TechWoven iPhone 17 cases mentioned compatibility with a “Crossbody Strap.” Now, Majin Bu has posted photos of what the accessory could look like.

The standout detail? Apple may use magnets instead of traditional hooks or loops.

According to Majin Bu, the strap could feature a flexible magnetic core that runs along its length, with polarized magnetic rings at each end. This design would make attaching and detaching the strap much quicker than standard lanyards.

How It Differs From Regular Lanyards

Most straps for phones or cameras use thin loops that you thread through the case. Apple’s rumored system sounds more premium—and more “Apple-like.” By skipping the hassle of loops, it could feel cleaner and more intuitive.

There’s even speculation that the Crossbody Strap may also work with the upcoming AirPods Pro 3 case, which is rumored to adopt a new design inspired by AirPods 4.

A Camera-Focused Accessory?

Apple has been positioning the iPhone as a professional-grade camera, and this strap could reinforce that. Dedicated cameras often ship with lanyards or neck straps to prevent drops, and this accessory would bring that same experience to iPhone photography.

Still, some may question the choice of magnets. Is this a clever design, or over-engineering that risks your iPhone slipping free?

We’ll know soon enough. Apple’s “Awe dropping” event takes place on September 9, where the iPhone 17 lineup and accessories are expected to be revealed.
